PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) for Hair Loss
A great option for both men and women struggling with hair loss around the hairline or thinning hair. Services close to home in Harford County, in our Medspa inside Jordan Thomas Salon and Spa in Bel Air, MD.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a non-toxic, natural substance can be used to stimulate hair growth. There has been a lot of research in the past 20 years supporting the effectiveness of PRP in hair restoration for clients with androgenic alopecia (male or female pattern baldness). Many studies state that PRP injection is a simple feasible treatment option, with high overall patient satisfaction. PRP Therapy is great for people who want a gradual and more natural looking way to get thicker hair, opposed to hair transplant procedures which can be a sudden change of appearance and require surgery and added downtime.
PRP is produced from your own blood using a process called platelet enrichment activation. Platelets are naturally occurring cells in your blood stream that contain a variety of chemicals and growth factors. We take a small sample of your own blood and spin it in a centrifuge, separating the PRP from the rest of the blood. We then remove the PRP to obtain what is referred to as "Liquid Gold." Because the PRP comes from your own blood there is no risk for an allergic or immune reaction. We then numb the scalp with a prescription strength topical numbing cream and use small needles to inject the PRP. Aftercare is simple and recovery is quick, and there are no driving restrictions after the procedure.
